Installing Mods on Satisfactory

The FICSIT.app Mod Browser

Satisfactory mods are installed through the built-in mod browser on the Mods tab, which searches the FICSIT.app repository directly — no manual file uploads or FTP needed.

Searching and Installing a Mod

Open the Mods tab and use the search box to find a mod by name.
Select a mod from the results to see its available versions.
Pick a version — each mod version is pinned to a specific version of SML (Satisfactory Mod Loader), so the browser only shows versions compatible with your server's current SML.
Click Install. The install runs through ficsit-cli under the hood, which resolves the correct SML version automatically.

SML Versioning

You don't manage SML manually — ficsit-cli bumps or holds the SML version based on which mod version you pick. If a mod you want only supports an older SML, installing it can downgrade SML for compatibility, which may affect other mods you already have installed. It's worth checking compatibility for all your installed mods before adding a new one, especially right after a Satisfactory update.

Uninstalling a Mod

From the Mods tab, select an installed mod and choose uninstall. This removes the mod's files and lets ficsit-cli reconcile the remaining SML requirements for whatever mods are still installed.

Installing, updating, or removing a mod requires a server restart to take effect — you'll see a confirmation warning before the change is applied.

Branch Compatibility

Mods are generally built and tested against the Public (Stable) branch. Switching to Experimental can break mod compatibility since SML and mod authors may not have caught up yet — see Getting Started with Your Satisfactory Server for details on branches.
