Managing Backups & Restoring Your Server

Creating a manual backup

Open the Backups tab on your server dashboard and click Create Backup at any time. Your backup list refreshes automatically a few times over the following seconds so you can watch the new backup appear once it finishes.

Automatic backups

Open Backup Settings on the same tab to enable Auto Backup. Once enabled, backups run automatically whenever the server stops. Two settings control behavior:

  • Frequency — the minimum number of hours between automatic backups.
  • Retention — how many automatic backups to keep, from 1 up to a maximum of 10. Once the limit is reached, the oldest automatic backup is removed to make room for the newest.

Automatic backups are labeled with an "Auto" badge in the backup list so you can tell them apart from manual ones.

Restoring a backup

Your server must be fully Stopped before you can restore a backup — the Restore button is disabled while the server is running.

Click Restore next to any backup and confirm. What happens next depends on the game: Steam-based games apply the restore right away, while Minecraft servers queue the restore to run on the next start. A banner at the top of the Backups tab shows when a restore is pending.
