Choosing your server software
The Software tab offers just one branch for Squad: Public. There's no staging or experimental branch to switch between. As with any change on this tab, updates require a server restart before they apply — the panel will confirm this before saving, so pick a time when the server is empty.
Next steps
Once your server is running, check the Console tab to confirm it starts cleanly. Squad supports Steam Workshop mods, fully handled in-app — see Installing Mods on Squad for the full walkthrough, including how installed mods get loaded automatically. Before making any bigger changes, set up Managing Backups & Restoring Your Server, and use Scheduling Automatic Server Tasks to handle recurring restarts.
