7 Days to Die
Blood Moon Gamestage
Blood Moon difficulty in 7 Days to Die is not driven by the day number. It is driven by gamestage, a value derived from your party that can make night 14 harder than night 28.
How this is calculated
Gamestage combines player level, days survived and difficulty setting, then averages across everyone online for the horde. The calculator estimates the value you will be at and what that means for horde composition — the point at which radiated zombies start appearing is the number most groups want to know.
The arithmetic
- gamestage = floor(base × difficulty modifier × multiplayer bonus)
- zombies per player = max(1, floor(gamestage ÷ 5))
- horde size = zombies per player × party size
What people get wrong
Averaging is the part that surprises groups. A high-level player joining a low-level server raises the gamestage for everyone, so a friend visiting to help can make the horde substantially worse for the people they came to help.
