Shroud time is a hard limit rather than a health bar, and misjudging it means losing whatever you were carrying.
How this is calculated
The timer is fixed and does not pause, so the only question that matters is whether the round trip fits inside it. The calculator works backwards from your time limit to a safe exploration radius, accounting for the return journey people forget to budget for.
The arithmetic
- minutes = base time + (altar level − 1) + skill bonus + flask bonus
What people get wrong
Shroud roots reset the timer, and knowing where the nearest one is changes the calculation entirely. Plan routes around them rather than treating each descent as a single fixed budget.
