Installing Steam Workshop Mods

DayZ has full Steam Workshop support built into the Mods tab. Browse the Workshop, pick a mod, and install it — the installed list is read live from the server's own files, so it always matches what's actually on disk.

Your server must be Stopped before you install or remove any Workshop mods. Changes made while the server is running won't take effect — stop it first, make your changes, then start it back up.

You don't need to manage mod "keys" yourself — Spawnly handles the @modid-style folder referencing and key setup automatically as part of installing or uninstalling each mod through the Mods tab.

Familiar if You've Run Arma 3

DayZ shares Arma's underlying engine lineage, so if you've hosted an Arma 3 server on Spawnly before, this workflow will look identical — same Stopped-server requirement, same automatic key handling, same live-from-disk mod list.

Next Steps

Also running an Arma 3 server? See Installing Mods on Your Arma 3 Server. New to the Workshop browser itself? Read Installing Steam Workshop Mods. Back up your world before a big mod change with Managing Backups & Restoring Your Server.
