The Unreal Engine 5 rebuild raised the baseline sharply, and the things that accumulate in ARK accumulate permanently: every structure a tribe places and every dino they tame stays in the save and stays in memory. A server's requirement therefore rises month over month even with a stable player count, which is not true of most games here.
The mistake to avoid
Reusing an ASE figure, or sizing against an empty map. Plan against the server you will have in three months — several tribes deep into base building — not the one you are booting today.
