Rust
Upkeep Cost
Rust charges you rent. Every block inside a tool cupboard's radius costs resources every twenty-four hours, and the rate climbs as the base grows — which is why a build that felt affordable at fifty blocks becomes a second job at four hundred.
How this is calculated
Upkeep is a share of what the building cost to place, not a flat per-block fee. The share depends on how much is inside the cupboard: a small base pays ten per cent of its build cost per day, a large one pays sixty. Multiply your block count by the placement cost of that tier, apply the rate for your total size, and that is the daily bill. The bracket table is printed next to the inputs so you can check it against the current build rather than trusting us.
The arithmetic
- upkeep rate = 10% ≤20 blocks · 20% ≤100 · 33% ≤250 · 50% ≤500 · 60% above
- daily cost = blocks × cost per block × upkeep rate
- wood 200 · stone 300 · sheet metal 200 frags · armoured 25 HQM per block
What people get wrong
People count walls and forget floors, ceilings, foundations and stairs — every one of those is a block and every one is billed. The other surprise is the bracket edge: adding a single block that crosses you from two hundred and fifty into the next tier raises the rate on the entire base at once, not just on the new block. If your upkeep jumped for no reason, that is why.
