Research speed in Dyson Sphere Program is bounded by matrix production, and matrix production is bounded by whichever input you underbuilt.
How this is calculated
Each matrix type has its own recipe and lab consumption rate, so a target research rate implies a specific production rate for every matrix in the chain. The calculator works backwards from the research rate you want to the lab and production counts that support it.
The arithmetic
- effective SPS = target SPS ÷ (1 + 0.2 × proliferator tier)
- labs = ceil(effective SPS × matrix craft time)
What people get wrong
Labs consume every matrix type simultaneously once unlocked, so the slowest matrix sets the pace for all of them. Building more labs without fixing that bottleneck adds power draw and no research.
